Integrin alpha 2b (CD41) is a calcium-dependent, noncovalently associated heterodimer and contains a heavy chain (GPIIb alpha) and a light chain (GPIIb beta) linked by a single disulfide bond. The Integrin alpha 2B chain interacts with the Integrin beta 3 subunit/CD61 to form the plaet glycoprotein complex, gpIIb/IIIa. It is expressed on plaets and megakaryocytes. Ligands for the gpIIb/IIIa heterodimer include fibrinogen, von Willebrand factor, fibronectin, vitronectin, and thrombospondin. The gpIIb/IIIa complex is the major Integrin on plaets and is important for plaet adhesion and aggregation.

Storage: Store at –20 ºC for one year. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles. The lyophilized antibody is stable at room temperature for at least one month and for greater than a year when kept at -20ºC. When reconstituted in sterile pH 7.4 0.01M PBS or diluent of antibody, the antibody is stable for at least two weeks at 2-4 ºC.
